Day 4: Isabela Island

Today was our first excursion to one of the Islands.  Today we  headed out to Isabela Island.  Here's our boat for the day...and what a ride it was!  About 6 kids sat outside, 2 got to sit up top and the rest were inside. To say it was a bit bumpy, is putting it mildly.  We were smart and took plenty of dramamine prior to boarding, and it made all the difference in the world. 2.5 hrs later, we arrived on the Island.

We hopped in an open-air jeep and took off for a mini-tour of the island. We got extremely lucky and spotted a whole flock of blue-footed boobies, which our Tour director said was extremely rare.

Our next stop was the Wall of Tears, built by the prisoners that used to live on the island.

Our next surprise animal sighting was a flock of pink flamingos.

We then stopped at another turtle sanctuary and watched them, mesmerized at their interactions.

Lunch was up next.  Although it's quite warm & humid, a common appetizer is soup...with popcorn! The soup itself is a vegetable puree, but you add popcorn to it, instead of crackers or something else crunchy.  And, actually, it was quite delicious!

After lunch we headed down to the beach for some snorkeling and beach fun.  Look what we ran into along the way!!

Another fun animal sighting - crab!!!  Look at those amazing colors!!

This is our taxi that takes us back out to our boat that is awaiting us off shore.

Another 2.5 hrs on the boat, after another round of dramamine, and we made it back to Santa Cruz island safe & sound. We definitely got some sun today, so off to find some aloe was priority numero uno.  We also went for a walk in the rain after dinner to find some ice cream and Wi-Fi, as our hotel has no Wi-Fi.

Tomorrow is more of the same - different island. Can't wait to see what awaits us there!!!
